It all begins with an idea
The Alliance for The Activation of Cook Park was established in January of 2022 after functioning as an Advisory Council created statutorily by Council member Antonio Brown. The Advisory Council was created for the purpose of establishing a Friends of the Park or a stand-alone non-profit entity. The Alliance for the Activation of Cook Park is currently a Park Pride Friends of Cook Park as well as a standalone non-profit entity.
The Advisory Council was to seek to strengthen the Vine City neighborhood and engage the community residents in developing the Park and work collectively to generate jobs, including construction, park maintenance and urban farming opportunities that will benefit local community residents. The Advisory Council was also to engage the community and provide recommendations on implementing policies and procedures for the maintenance and improvement of the Park.
The Alliance for the Activation of Cook Park is a non-profit corporation operating exclusively for educational and other charitable purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code.
The Alliance is a neighborhood centric conservancy that acts as a permanent body that works in partnership with the City of Atlanta’s corporate, philanthropic and host neighborhood of Vine City to build a community dedicated to sustaining and conserving Cook Park for the future.
The Alliance is providing programming, advocacy, education, security, engagement, and improvements to Cook Park to ensure the best Park experiences for the host neighborhood of Vine City and surrounding neighborhoods and communities.
