Cook Park

The Alliance for the Activation of Cook Park is a community-driven nonprofit dedicated to sustaining and enriching Rodney Cook Sr. Park in Atlanta’s historic Vine City. Formed in 2022, we collaborate with local residents, city officials, and philanthropic partners to provide inclusive programming, educational initiatives, and cultural events that celebrate the park’s legacy and promote environmental stewardship. Our mission is to ensure Cook Park remains a vibrant, resilient space that honors the neighborhood’s history while fostering community connection and growth.

Our Mission

The mission of the Alliance for the Activation of Cook Park Conservancy is to work in Alliance with the City of Atlanta's corporate, philanthropic, and host neighborhood of Vine City to provide programming, advocacy, and promote the uniqueness of the location, historical significance, and cultural relevancy of Rodney Cook, Sr. Park.

Our Values

Cook Park is a safe, clean, well-maintained, and accessible park with a diverse range of activities, both large and small, for the community and visitors.

Who’s on the board?

The Advisory Council was created for the purpose of establishing a Friends of the Park or a stand-alone non-profit entity. The Alliance for the Activation of Cook Park is currently a Park Pride Friends of Cook Park as well as a standalone non-profit entity.

  • Rodney Cook Sr. Park is a 16-acre greenspace in Atlanta’s historic Vine City neighborhood. It combines flood mitigation infrastructure with community-centered features like playgrounds, walking trails, and memorials that celebrate Atlanta’s civil rights legacy.

  • Yes. For public or private events, you'll need a permit from the City of Atlanta’s Office of Parks. The Alliance can also assist with programming partnerships or co-hosting community events.

  • We’re always looking for volunteers, partners, and donors who care about community, equity, and green space. You can sign up on our website or attend one of our public events to learn more.
